Summary
Mahesh Ram, the husband of a deceased woman, was charged under Sections 80(1) and 61(2) of the BNS for allegedly killing his wife. He has been in custody since 22 September 2025. The prosecution presented a post‑mortem report confirming that the death was a homicide and not a suicide. The petitioner applied for regular bail, arguing that he should be released pending trial. The Patna High Court, after hearing the parties, found the circumstances serious and declined to grant bail, dismissing the application. The court noted that the petitioner could seek bail again if the trial is unduly delayed.
