Patna High Court

Antu Chaudhary @ Antu KumarversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner subject to bond and sureties.

Summary

The petitioner, Antu Chaudhary, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 304B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly killing a woman over dowry demands. The petitioner applied for bail, contending that the deceased had actually committed suicide, a fact that emerged during the investigation. The court examined the materials on record, noting that the death appeared to be a suicide arising from a family dispute. Considering these circumstances, the court allowed the bail application. The petitioner was released on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount, subject to the satisfaction of the concerned court. The order was limited to the bail issue and did not prejudice the merits of the trial.
