The petition for modification of the surrender deadline is allowed, granting an additional eight weeks subject to a Rs. 50,000 deposit and bail bond.

Summary

Satendra Kumar, the petitioner, filed an application seeking modification of a 2015 order that set a deadline for his surrender in a criminal miscellaneous case arising from a 2013 incident in Gaya. The petitioner requested an extension of the surrender period. The Patna High Court, after hearing counsel, granted an additional eight weeks for surrender, conditioned upon the deposit of Rs. 50,000 to the District Legal Services Authority and submission of the receipt with a bail bond. The court accordingly modified the earlier order and allowed the petition. The decision facilitates the petitioner’s compliance with surrender requirements while ensuring financial security through the deposit.
