Disposal
DISMISSED

Holding

Anticipatory bail was not granted as the case was not fit for such relief.

Summary

The petitioner, Ajay Kumar Ranjan, a self‑identified Naxal, feared arrest in connection with a 2010 incident where he allegedly burnt a truck, leading to charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Arms Act and the Criminal Law Amendment Act. He applied for anticipatory bail to avoid detention. The court examined the seriousness of the offences, including charges of attempt to murder, unlawful assembly, and possession of arms, and considered the petitioner’s alleged involvement in Naxal activities. Finding the case not suitable for anticipatory bail, the court dismissed the application. The petitioner was ordered to surrender within four weeks to the lower court and seek regular bail.
