Holding
The court denied regular bail, holding that the gravity of the offences and the petitioner’s criminal history preclude bail.
Summary
Manjeet Singh was arrested in connection with a case of extortion and firing a bullet, charged under Sections 308(4), 329(3), 109, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 27 of the Arms Act. He has been in custody since 18 July 2025 and has seven prior criminal convictions. The petitioner applied for regular bail, arguing that the bullet did not hit anyone. The court examined the seriousness of the offences, the petitioner’s presence in the FIR, and his criminal antecedents. Considering these factors, the court found the gravity of the case outweighed any bail considerations and rejected the bail application.
