Holding
The Court held that the petitioner’s extensive criminal antecedents outweigh the fact that the trial is progressing, and therefore bail was not warranted.
Summary
The petitioner, Pankaj Sharma, was arrested in connection with the offences alleged in Sessions Trial No. 1522 of 2025 arising out of PS Rajiv Nagar Case No. 654 of 2024. He has been in custody since 23 December 2024 and possesses eighteen prior criminal convictions. The petitioner filed a second application for bail, contending that the trial was progressing. The Court noted the ongoing progress of the trial but placed greater weight on the petitioner’s extensive criminal antecedents. Considering both factors, the Court was not inclined to grant bail. Consequently, the bail application was dismissed.
