Decided
Disposal
BAIL REJECTED

Holding

Anticipatory bail was refused due to the unexplained sixteen‑year delay.

Summary

The petitioner, Urmila Devi, filed a second anticipatory bail petition in 2026, seeking relief after a previous petition was rejected in 2009. The petition was filed 16 years after the original rejection, with no explanation for the delay. The court examined whether anticipatory bail could be granted after such a prolonged lapse. Considering the unexplained 16‑year delay, the court found no sufficient cause to entertain the relief. Consequently, the anticipatory bail petition was refused.
