Holding

The court held that, on the basis of the petitioner's stated reasons, a four‑week extension of time was permissible.

Summary

The petitioner, Udit Kumar, filed a modification application seeking an extension of time to surrender himself and furnish bail bonds as required by the order dated 29-07-2025 in Criminal Appeal (SJ) No. 2226 of 2024. The application was heard before Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma on 16-01-2026. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the reasons stated in paragraph 3 of the petition justified a further four‑week extension. The court examined whether the procedural rules permit such an extension and found the reasons sufficient. Consequently, the court granted a four‑week extension for surrender and furnishing bail bonds and disposed of the modification application.
