The application for regular bail was dismissed.

Summary

Vinod Rajak applied for regular bail in a case registered under Sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 504 and 506/34 of the Indian Penal Code, alleging that he cheated a victim of Rs. 9,00,000 by promising a job. The petitioner claimed innocence and argued that he had been in custody since 8 October 2025 despite having two prior criminal antecedents. The State and the informant’s counsel opposed bail, contending that the stolen amount was transferred to the petitioner’s wife’s bank account. The Court examined the nature of the allegations, the petitioner’s criminal history, and the risk of tampering with evidence. It concluded that the circumstances did not justify granting bail and dismissed the regular bail application, noting that its observations were prima facie and would not affect the trial.

  • Whether the petitioner is entitled to regular bail despite the seriousness of the offences and his prior criminal antecedents.
