The court allowed the petitioner's application for regular bail.
Summary
The petitioner, Anshu Thakur, was charged in Mahila Police Station Case No. 36/2025 for offences under Sections 64, 318(4), 303(2), 352 and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, extortion, and threats. The prosecution alleged that he befriended the complainant, pressured her for sexual relations, threatened to defame her, demanded money, snatched jewellery, and repeatedly threatened to kill her and her father. The petitioner claimed innocence, arguing that the complaint arose from a failed intimate relationship and that he has only one prior criminal antecedent. He sought regular bail, undertaking to cooperate with the trial, while the State opposed the bail. After considering the facts, the court allowed the bail application, directing release on a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
