The court extended the surrender period by two weeks subject to a Rs.5,000 deposit in the Benevolent Fund.

Summary

The petitioner, Sourav Singh, was granted anticipatory bail on 16-10-2025 with the condition to surrender before the district court within four weeks. He was unable to comply because he was employed in Punjab at the relevant time and sought an additional two‑week extension to surrender. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the delay was due to his livelihood constraints. The High Court considered the request and, acknowledging the circumstances, extended the surrender deadline by two weeks from the date of the order, imposing a condition that the petitioner deposit Rs.5,000 in the Benevolent Fund of the Advocate Association. The application for modification was therefore allowed.

  • Whether imposing a monetary deposit condition is permissible in modifying anticipatory bail
