The writ petition is dismissed for lack of merit as no mismanagement of the NEET UG 2025 examination was established.
Summary
Ankit Harsh filed a writ petition alleging that the NEET UG 2025 examination at a Patna centre suffered mismanagement, resulting in a loss of about 30‑35 minutes of exam time and seeking a re‑test. The respondents – Union of India, National Medical Commission, National Testing Agency and the State of Bihar – filed a counter‑affidavit stating that the exam commenced on time, ran for the full three hours, and that all procedures, including collection of answer sheets, were strictly followed. The petitioner's claim that no complaint was raised by any candidate was refuted by the centre superintendent and invigilator, who affirmed proper conduct. The court examined the affidavits and found no evidence of any procedural lapse or denial of time to candidates. Consequently, the court held that the writ petition lacked merit and ordered its closure.
Issues considered
- What factual basis exists to support the allegation of mismanagement and loss of examination time in the NEET UG 2025 centre?
- Whether the alleged mismanagement, if proven, warrants a direction for a re‑test of the examination?
- Whether the writ petition is maintainable in the absence of concrete evidence of procedural irregularities.
