Summary
Santosh Kumar filed a writ petition seeking an order directing the Union of India and various railway officials to appoint him or a family member to a Group C or D post in the Railway Department as compensation for land acquired for the Railway Bridge-cum-Road project over the Ganga. The land, located in Mauza Gangajal, Vaishali district, was acquired by two awards dated 15.05.2017, totaling 21 decimals. The petitioner argued that such an appointment was a rightful form of monetary and non‑monetary compensation for the acquisition. The court examined the petition and, after hearing counsel, granted the petitioner liberty to pursue appropriate steps for redressal of his grievance. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed without ordering any specific appointment.
