Holding
The Court held that it may direct the Director General of Police to pass a reasoned order on the petitioner’s memorial within 60 days.
Summary
Alam Gir filed a writ petition against the State of Bihar and several police officials, seeking a direction for the consideration of his memorial pending before the Director General of Police (DGP). The petitioner argued that the memorial had remained unacted upon since 2025, while the State contended that the matter was still before the DGP and could be dealt with by a suitable order. The High Court, without delving into the merits of the memorial, directed the DGP to pass a reasoned order on the petitioner's memorial within 60 days of receipt of the order. The Court emphasized that the DGP must consider all points raised, including the judgments cited by the petitioner. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of with the said direction.
