The court directed the Director Training, Directorate of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, to take a final decision on correcting the petitioner’s trade within four weeks, thereby disposing of the writ application.
Summary
The petitioner, a minor represented by his father, filed a writ petition seeking correction of his trade entry from ‘Electronic Mechanic’ to ‘Fitter NCVT’ in the records of a Government ITI and directions for conducting his first‑year and second‑year examinations. The petitioner also asked the respondents to consider his earlier representation dated 4 August 2025 and to issue the examination schedule. The respondents, including the Union of India and the State of Bihar, indicated that the matter was pending before the Director of Training, who had requested data for correction and was awaiting a final decision. Both sides agreed that the court could issue a direction to the Director of Training to decide the trade correction promptly. The court, after hearing counsel, disposed of the writ by directing the Director of Training to take a final decision on the trade correction within four weeks, thereby dismissing the remaining reliefs sought.
Issues considered
- Whether the High Court can direct the Director Training to correct the petitioner’s trade entry in the ITI records.
- Whether the writ petition is maintainable for seeking administrative correction and examination directions.
- Whether the court may impose a time‑bound directive for the respondent to decide the trade correction.
