The Court held that Respondent No.5 must accept the petitioner’s application for an electrical connection and process it within four weeks.

Summary

Petitioner Baibhav Singh filed a writ petition seeking an order directing Respondent No.5, an Assistant Electrical Engineer of the Electric Supply Sub‑Division, to accept his application for an electrical connection and to process it within law. The respondents, representing the Bihar State Power Holding Company and its subsidiaries, argued that the petition could be disposed of by directing the same relief. The Court examined the submissions and found no legal impediment to granting the relief. Accordingly, the Court ordered Respondent No.5 to accept the petitioner’s application, collect the requisite fees, and consider the request strictly in accordance with law, completing the process within four weeks of receipt of the order. The petition was thereby disposed of.
