Holding

The writ petition is disposed of as withdrawn, with liberty to file a fresh petition against the final selection list.

Summary

Petitioner Piyush Kumar filed a writ petition seeking to quash a provisional selection list of candidates issued by the Criminal Investigation Department, Government of Bihar, dated 21‑12‑2025. After hearing both sides, the petitioner requested permission to withdraw the application and was granted liberty to challenge the final selection list when it is issued. The Court, without examining the merits, disposed of the petition as withdrawn, granting the requested liberty. No substantive adjudication on the merits of the quash petition was made. The order effectively leaves the petitioner free to approach the Court again against the final list.

Issues considered

  • Whether the provisional selection list issued by the Criminal Investigation Department can be quashed by a writ petition.
  • Whether the petitioner may withdraw the writ petition and retain the right to file a fresh petition against the final selection list.
