The court held that the university must complete the pending recruitment process within six months from the date of the order.
Summary
The petitioner, Md. Sarbar Alam, filed a writ petition seeking a court order directing Bihar Agriculture University to complete the recruitment process for the post of Laboratory Attendant advertised on 26‑04‑2023. The university’s counter‑affidavit stated that the recruitment was under scrutiny and would be completed within 2‑3 months if circumstances allowed. The State of Bihar raised no objection to the relief sought. The court noted the university’s own timeline and, finding no impediment, directed it to finish the selection within six months of the order. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed with a specific deadline for the university to complete the recruitment.
Issues considered
- Whether the delay in completing the recruitment process for the advertised post warrants judicial intervention.
- Whether the court can impose a specific time‑frame on the university to conclude the recruitment.
