Holding

The Court disposed of the writ application as withdrawn, holding that no further adjudication was necessary once the petitioner’s relief was granted.

Summary

Dr. Sunita Roy filed a civil writ petition challenging her appointment as Principal of the College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Patna, seeking relief against the State of Bihar and Patliputra University. While the petition was pending, the University issued Notification No. R/PPU/931/26 dated 30.05.2026 appointing her as the regular Principal, which took effect immediately. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that this development fully redressed her grievance and that there was no longer any purpose in continuing the writ. The State and University counsel agreed to the withdrawal. The Court, accepting the petitioner's submission, recorded the notification on record and disposed of the writ application as withdrawn. Consequently, the related contempt application was also dismissed as moot.
