Patna High Court

Gopal Jee PrasadversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
DISPOSED

Holding

The petition must be filed before the Circle Officer, Goh, Aurangabad, for the correction of the online rent receipt, and the High Court will not entertain the writ otherwise.

Summary

The petitioner, Gopal Jee Prasad, filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the State of Bihar and its revenue officials to correct entries in the online rent receipt records for several of his land plots for the years 2020-21 to 2024-25, and to take action against the person who allegedly made the erroneous entries. The High Court examined whether it could directly order the correction of the online records and impose punitive action. The Court held that the appropriate remedy is to approach the concerned Circle Officer, who has the jurisdiction to entertain such a request. Consequently, the Court directed the petitioner to file a proper petition before the Circle Officer, Goh, Aurangabad. The writ petition was therefore disposed of without any substantive order on the correction itself.
