Holding
The court held that no direction to the authorities was required and disposed of the writ petition.
Summary
Shyam Narayan Ram filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the District Magistrate, Patna, to forward a list of 362 Class IV vacancies to the General Administration Department so that the Bihar Staff Selection Commission could announce results for 312 candidates who appeared for a written test on 15‑09‑2024, and also to have his representation dated 20‑01‑2025 disposed of. The petitioner claimed that despite his representation, no order was issued. The State contended that a memo dated 24‑04‑2025 indicated that all vacancies had been filled except two, and a letter dated 03‑03‑2025 clarified that there were no vacancies. The Court examined the letters and found no basis to issue any further direction. Consequently, the Court held that no direction was necessary and disposed of the writ petition.
Issues considered
- What relief, if any, should the court grant regarding the petitioner's request for the District Magistrate to transmit the list of Class IV vacancies to the General Administration Department?
- Whether the court should intervene to compel the authorities to act on the petitioner's representation dated 20‑01‑2025.
