The Court granted the petitioners liberty to pursue contempt proceedings against the respondents.

Summary

The petitioners, three headmasters, filed a writ petition seeking contempt proceedings against several education officials for allegedly flouting a judicial order dated 26‑02‑2020 in C.W.J.C. No. 3993 of 2020. The respondents filed a show‑cause that the matter had been considered by a committee headed by the District Education Officer and the petitioners' claim was rejected on 30‑06‑2020. The High Court examined whether the respondents’ actions amounted to contempt of the earlier order. The Court held that the petitioners were entitled to proceed with contempt proceedings and granted them liberty to agitate the matter. Consequently, the petition was allowed to move forward for contempt action.
