DISPOSED

Holding

The court held that the order dated 27‑02‑2020 has been complied with as the dues were paid, and therefore the contempt petition cannot proceed.

Summary

The petitioner, Dr. Abdul Salam Ansari, filed a contempt petition alleging that the State of Bihar and several university officials willfully disobeyed an earlier order dated 27‑02‑2020 directing payment of his dues within three months. The petition sought initiation of contempt proceedings and punishment for non‑compliance. The university counsel produced documents showing that Rs. 13,50,589 was credited to the petitioner’s account on 12‑09‑2023 and an additional Rs. 20,71,978 was paid as per a chart dated 05‑02‑2020. The court recorded these documents, noted that the payment satisfied the earlier order, and consequently held that the order was complied with. The contempt petition was therefore disposed of, and the court expressed appreciation for the university counsel’s assistance.
