Holding

Since the respondents complied with the Court's order by making the required payment, the contempt application is dismissed.

Summary

The petitioner, Gauri Shankar Singh, filed an application seeking contempt proceedings against several government officials for allegedly willfully disobeying the High Court's order dated 21‑02‑2024 in Civil Writ Jurisdiction Case No.3030 of 2023. The order required the respondents to make a payment of Rs. 346,509 to facilitate land acquisition for a road project. The respondents submitted a memorandum stating that they had paid the full amount on 18‑04‑2026 and communicated the same to the District Land Acquisition Officer. The Court examined the submissions, accepted the respondents' version of compliance, and consequently disposed of the contempt application. The Court indicated that any further grievance could be raised only through a fresh petition, not through the present contempt proceeding.

  • Should contempt proceedings be instituted against the respondents?
