Ravindra Kumar Sriwastav @ Ravindra Prasad SriwastavversusThe State of Bihar through Sri Vinod Singh Gunjiyal the Principal Secretary,

Decided
Disposal
DISPOSED

Holding

The contempt petition was dismissed as the petitioner’s grievance was fully remedied.

Summary

The petitioner, Ravindra Kumar Sriwastav, filed a contempt petition seeking relief after his Deed Licence No.36 of 2002 was allegedly not restored. The opposite parties, representing the State of Bihar, indicated that they had complied with the High Court's earlier order dated 08.08.2023 in CWJC No.12317 of 2021, restoring the deed licence. The petitioner then acknowledged that the deed licence had indeed been restored and that he no longer had any grievance. The court examined whether the contempt petition remained viable after the compliance. Finding that the petitioner’s grievance was resolved, the court disposed of the contempt petition.

Issues considered

  • Whether the contempt petition should proceed when the petitioner’s grievance has been remedied by compliance with the earlier court order.

Subjects

  • contempt
  • deed licence
  • compliance
  • civil writ jurisdiction
  • petition disposed
