Holding

The petition is disposed of as the respondent has complied with the Court's order.

Summary

Sapna Sharma filed a petition seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the Union of India (East Central Railway) for allegedly failing to comply with a Patna High Court order dated 12‑12‑2022 that directed the railway to pay the balance of Rs.8 lakh due to her. The order arose from a series of earlier proceedings (Miscellaneous Appeal No.116 of 2018, case No. REV27/2017, MA (OA) No.0081/2010). The railway filed a show‑cause response indicating that the remaining amount of Rs.3,10,838 had been paid on 05‑01‑2026. The Court examined the show‑cause and found that the respondent had indeed complied with the earlier order. Consequently, the Court held that there was no ground for contempt. The petition was therefore disposed of.

Issues considered

  • Whether the Union of India (East Central Railway) failed to comply with the Court's order dated 12‑12‑2022.
