The contempt petition is disposed of.

Summary

Harendra Prasad Sinha filed a contempt petition before the Patna High Court alleging that the State of Bihar and several officials willfully ignored and violated an order dated 03‑10‑2012 passed in CWJC No. 13416/2005. The petitioner claimed that the opposite parties continued to act contemptuously despite knowledge of the earlier order. The respondents filed a show‑cause notice, and the State counsel produced a receipt indicating that Rs 1,20,000 was handed over to the petitioner, which the petitioner acknowledged on 17‑01‑2020. The court examined the show‑cause filing and the receipt to determine whether the alleged contempt had occurred. In view of the evidence, the court concluded that the matter did not warrant further contempt proceedings. Consequently, the contempt petition was disposed of by the court.

Issues considered

  • Did the opposite parties commit contempt of the order dated 03‑10‑2012?
  • Was the receipt of Rs 1,20,000 sufficient to show compliance with the order?
