Patna High Court

Biteshwar YadavversusThe State of Bihar through the Principal Secretary, Land Reforms Department

Decided
Disposal
DISPOSED

Holding

The Court held that the order was complied with and therefore the contempt petition was dismissed.

Summary

The petitioner, Biteshwar Yadav, filed a contempt application alleging that the respondents, including the State of Bihar and various officials, willfully disobeyed the High Court’s order dated 1 July 2025 directing the Collector of Ara, Bhojpur to decide his claim and submit relevant documents. The Court noted that a show‑cause response from the Collector dated 22 January 2026 indicated that the petitioner’s representation had been disposed of, effectively negating his claim. The Court granted the petitioner liberty to agitate or challenge the order if he wished, but found that the order had been complied with. Consequently, the contempt petition was dismissed and the original writ petition was deemed disposed. The judgment underscores the requirement of compliance with court orders and the limited scope of contempt proceedings where compliance is evident.
