Patna High Court

Ravindra KumarversusThe State of Bihar through Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, the Principal Secretary,

Decided
Disposal
DISMISSED

Holding

The court held that the respondents had complied with the earlier order, and therefore the contempt proceedings were to be dropped.

Summary

The petitioners, a large group of individuals, filed multiple miscellaneous jurisdiction writ petitions against the State of Bihar and its health officials, alleging non‑compliance with an earlier court order dated 28‑02‑2024. The respondents submitted supplementary show‑cause notices and memos (Memo No.188 and Memo No.189 dated 11‑03‑2026) indicating that the required decision had been taken and served on the petitioners. The court examined whether the respondents had truly complied with the earlier order and whether contempt proceedings should continue. Finding that the memos demonstrated full compliance in the spirit of the order, the court concluded that there was no ground for contempt. Consequently, the contempt proceedings were dropped and the miscellaneous jurisdiction applications were dismissed, with the petitioners directed to approach the appropriate authority for any further grievance.

Issues considered

  • The respondents complied with the order dated 28‑02‑2024 issued by the court.
  • Whether contempt proceedings should be continued against the respondents.
  • Whether the petitioners have any further remedy after dismissal of the contempt proceeding.

Subjects

  • contempt of court
