The petition for contempt is dismissed as the respondents have complied with the earlier order.

Summary

Petitioners Meera Kumari, Sarita Kumari, Putul Kumari and Mithilesh Kumar filed a petition seeking contempt proceedings against the State of Bihar and its education officials, alleging that they willfully ignored a prior judgment dated 19 July 2018 which directed the respondents to examine the petitioners' case within three months in accordance with the State Litigation Policy. The petitioners claimed that the respondents had not complied with the earlier order, while the respondents contended that they had complied. The court examined the compliance status and, finding that the respondents had indeed acted in accordance with the earlier directive, dismissed the petition for contempt. Consequently, no contempt proceedings were initiated, and the matter was disposed of.

Issues considered

  • Did the respondents willfully flout the order dated 19 July 2018 directing examination of the petitioners' case?
