Holding

The Court granted liberty to the petitioner to avail other remedies and disposed of the contempt petition.

Summary

The petitioner, Vinod Kumar, filed a contempt petition against the State of Bihar and several local officials after the Circle Officer, Sikandra, issued a final order on 25 July 2024 in compliance with the High Court’s earlier direction dated 7 November 2022. The petitioner sought liberty to pursue any other legal remedies for his remaining grievances. The Court examined whether the contempt petition should proceed given that the earlier order had been complied with. It held that the petitioner should be allowed to approach other appropriate forums for redress. Consequently, the contempt petition was disposed of. The order was pronounced by Justice Mohit Kumar Shah on 10 April 2026.
