Holding

The contempt petition is disposed of, and no contempt proceedings are initiated.

Summary

Kiran Singh, the widow of Late Dilip Singh, filed a petition seeking a compassionate appointment and alleged that the State of Bihar, Magadh University and its officials willfully disobeyed an earlier court order dated 13‑09‑2019. She moved the Patna High Court for initiation of contempt proceedings against the respondents. The university, through its registrar, issued an order on 06‑05‑2026 rejecting her claim for compassionate appointment. The Court, after hearing the parties, granted the petitioner liberty to raise any further grievance but disposed of the contempt petition, effectively refusing to proceed with contempt action.

Issues considered

  • Whether the respondents are in contempt for willful disobedience of the order dated 13‑09‑2019.
  • Whether the petitioner's claim for appointment on compassionate ground is maintainable.
