Summary
Rajvikramsinh Popatsinh Somaji Chauhan applied for temporary bail for a period of 30 days, citing his son’s 10th Board examination as the reason. The High Court heard arguments from the applicant’s counsel and the State’s counsel, with the State waiving service of notice. The Court partially allowed the application, granting bail from 5 March 2026 to 19 March 2026 on the condition that the applicant furnishes a personal bond of Rs.15,000 with an equal surety, appears before the police on alternate days, and surrenders after the bail period. The Court refused any reduction of the bond amount and ruled that no further extension of the temporary bail would be permitted. The order was made absolute and direct service was permitted.
Issues considered
- Whether temporary bail may be granted on the ground of the applicant’s son’s 10th Board examination
- Whether the amount of personal bond and surety can be reduced
