When the FIR is quashed, the anticipatory bail application becomes infructuous and is disposed of.
Summary
The applicant, Sunil Kishor Chaurasiya, filed an anticipatory bail application after an FIR (No. 123 of 2026) was registered against him. The court had earlier quashed the FIR in Writ Petition No. 1650 of 2026 on 14 August 2026. The applicant argued that, because the FIR was no longer in force, the bail application was moot. The court examined the effect of the FIR being quashed and concluded that there was no longer any pending criminal proceeding against the applicant. Consequently, the anticipatory bail application was deemed infructuous and was disposed of without granting bail.
