The court extended the period for declaration of the award to 31 December 2026.

Summary

The petition filed by M/s Ajmera Habitat Pvt Ltd sought an extension of the time limit for publishing the arbitral award, with the respondent Jidnyasa Co Operative Housing Society consenting. The arbitrator had earlier requested a six‑week extension, which had already lapsed, and orally asked for a further extension until December 2026. The High Court considered whether such an extension could be granted under the Arbitration framework. It held that the court may extend the period for declaration of the award and ordered the arbitrator to endeavour to issue the award by 31 December 2026. The petition was consequently disposed.
