Summary

M/s Amisha Buildcon Pvt Ltd filed an arbitration petition seeking an extension of the period for publication of the arbitral award against Jidnyasa Co Operative Housing Society. The learned arbitrator had earlier requested a six‑week extension until the end of July 2026, which had already elapsed. The petitioner orally requested that the deadline be further extended to 31 December 2026, noting that the matters were closed for pronouncement of the award. The respondent consented to the extension. The High Court, after considering the arbitrator’s request and the parties’ consent, extended the period for declaration of the award to 31 December 2026 and directed the arbitrator to endeavour to issue the award by that date. The petition was thereafter disposed.
