Holding

The Court condoned the delay and granted a stay of the impugned judgment and award, subject to deposit of the enhanced compensation with interest.

Summary

The State of Maharashtra filed multiple civil applications seeking condonation of delay and stay of an impugned judgment and award. The Court examined whether the delay in filing the applications could be condoned and whether a stay should be granted pending deposit of the enhanced compensation. It held that the delay was condonable and ordered the applications to be allowed. A stay on the impugned judgment and award was granted, subject to the appellants depositing the compensation amount with interest within three months. The Court directed that the first appeals be registered and listed for hearing, with notice to be issued and the parties to prepare private paper‑books for expeditious hearing.
