Summary

The State of Maharashtra filed a civil application seeking an extension of time for the Scrutiny Committee to decide the petitioner’s tribe claim, after the High Court had previously ordered a decision by the end of July 2026. The Committee reported that due to the pendency of the claim it could not meet the deadline. The Court considered the Committee’s difficulties and the reasons provided in the application. It granted an additional eight weeks from the date of the order for the Committee to complete its enquiry and decide the claim. Consequently, the civil application was allowed and disposed of.
