The Court allowed the correction of the applicant's name in the title of the appeal and the civil application, ordering the amendment as pleaded.
Summary
The applicant, Sakharhi Madhav Jadhav, who was the respondent in a First Appeal filed by the Union of India, filed two separate civil applications seeking correction of his name in the title of the appeal and the application. In the first application he claimed that his middle name was incorrectly recorded as “Mahadeo” instead of “Madhav”, and in the second he asserted that his first name and surname were recorded as “Ram” and “Chawan” instead of “Rambhau” and “Chavhan”. He supported each claim by annexing his Aadhar Card and PAN Card, demonstrating the correct spelling of his name. The Union of India, though served, did not appear to contest the applications. The Court, after considering the documentary evidence, allowed both applications in accordance with prayer clause ‘B’ and ordered the correction of the names. Consequently, each civil application was disposed of after being allowed.
