Holding

Permission to withdraw the amount deposited by the insurance company, together with accrued interest, was granted as the appeal was withdrawn and the award accepted.

Summary

The appeal in Sandeep Rangnath Shevkar v. Shriram General Insurance Co. Ltd. was withdrawn following an order from a National Lok‑Adalat dated 11‑02‑2023. The applicant, who was both the original claim petitioner and the respondent in the appeal, sought the court's permission to withdraw the amount that the insurance company had deposited with the court. The court noted that the insurance company had accepted the award that was being contested, and therefore granted permission for the applicant to retrieve the deposited amount along with any accrued interest. Consequently, the civil application filed to seek this permission was disposed of. The judgment was delivered by Justice Rohit W. Joshi on 16 September 2026.
