Condonation of the 1,680‑day delay was granted, but the applicant is not entitled to interest or statutory benefits for the delayed period.
Summary
The applicant, Hanumant Kisan Mali, filed an application seeking condonation of a 1,680‑day delay in filing an appeal for enhanced compensation against the State of Maharashtra. The court examined the reasons for the delay as presented by the applicant's counsel, M. L. Dharashive, and the objections raised by the respondent's advocate, N. D. Raje. It held that while the delay could be condoned, the applicant would not be entitled to interest or any statutory benefits for the period of delay. Consequently, the court ordered that the appeal be registered but without any claim to accrued interest. The order was recorded on 27 July 2026 by Justice Neeraj P. Dhote.
