- DISPOSED OFF
Holding
The Court permitted the State to deposit the remaining compensation cheque and allowed the petitioners to withdraw the total amount with interest.
Summary
The petitioners, Rangnath Fakira Wagh and others, claimed compensation of Rs.58,87,881 from the State of Maharashtra. The State sought an extension of time to deposit the awarded amount, citing that Rs.50,00,000 had already been deposited and the balance cheque was ready. The Court examined the communication from the Sub‑Divisional Officer confirming the entitlement and the deductions for establishment expenses and service charges. It allowed the State’s request for time extension and permitted the deposit of the remaining cheque in the Court Registry. Upon deposit, the petitioners were authorized to withdraw the full amount with accrued interest, and both civil applications were disposed.
