Holding

The contempt petition stands closed with liberty as prayed for.

Summary

The petitioners filed a contempt petition alleging that the respondents willfully disobeyed the Court's order dated 25 June 2025, which directed the authorities to decide the petitioners' representation within a specified timeline. The representation was subsequently decided by an order dated 18 December 2025. The petitioners then sought closure of the contempt petition, requesting liberty to challenge the 18 December order in a suitable proceeding. The Court allowed the prayer, holding that the contempt petition stands closed with the liberty sought. Consequently, the matter was disposed of without further contempt proceedings.

  • Whether the contempt petition should be dismissed on the ground that the representation has been decided.
