Bombay High Court

SK JAKIR SK AKHTAR AND ORSversusTHE STATE OF MAH AND ORS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The court held that no contempt exists as the matter appears to have been complied with or become moot, and therefore disposed of the petition.

Summary

A contempt petition (No. 129 of 2013) was filed by Jakir, Akhtar and others against the State of Maharashtra alleging disobedience of an earlier order directing the Collector of Jalgaon to decide a representation within six weeks. The order required the Collector to instruct the Special Land Acquisition Officer (S.L.A.O.) to calculate rental compensation, which was done in 2012 and a compensation chart was prepared. The court noted that by the time of the petition, the petitioners should have received the compensation, and there was no further activity on the matter after 2014. No petitioners appeared before the court. Consequently, the bench found that nothing remained to be adjudicated in the contempt petition and disposed of the petition.
