Disposal
Disposed Off

Holding

Since the Zilla Parishad complied with the court’s order, the contempt petition is dismissed.

Summary

The petitioners alleged contempt of the High Court for the Zilla Parishad’s alleged failure to decide a representation within 60 days of an order dated 4 March 2025. The Zilla Parishad submitted a decision, annexed to the petition, showing that it had complied with the court’s directive. The court examined whether the compliance negated the contempt allegation. Finding that the order was duly obeyed, the judges held that there was no contempt. Consequently, the contempt petition was disposed of.

Issues considered

  • Did the Zilla Parishad’s failure to decide the representation within 60 days constitute contempt of court?
