Bombay High Court

SHILPI KUMARI SAHAYversusPRADEEP NARENDER BHATIA

Decided
Disposal
Disposed Off

Holding

The Court held that the respondent had complied with the earlier order, so no contempt was established.

Summary

Shilpi Kumari Sahay filed Contempt Petition No. 291 of 2026 alleging that the respondent, Pradepe Narender Bhatia, had failed to comply with a February 13, 2026 order requiring him to deposit Rs 1,00,000 in the Court as reimbursement of school fees. The respondent, appearing personally, submitted that the amount had already been deposited in May 2026 but technical issues prevented earlier confirmation. The Court accepted the respondent’s statement as an undertaking and held that the earlier order had been complied with. Consequently, the Court disposed of the contempt petition, noting no contempt had occurred. The Court also recorded an undertaking that the respondent would pay Rs 1,76,000 school fees by October 7, 2026 and stood the matter over to October 27, 2026.
