SANTNATH GANPAT MANEversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The contempt petition is abated and disposed of as abated due to the death of the petitioner.

Summary

Santnath Ganpat Mane filed a contempt petition alleging disobedience of an interim order issued in his writ petition (WP/7271/2012). The writ petition was later held abated because the petitioner died on 28 February 2018. The court examined whether the contempt petition could continue in view of the petitioner's death. It held that since the underlying writ petition was abated, the contempt petition could not survive. Accordingly, the contempt petition was also abated and disposed of.
