Holding

The petition is dismissed as the respondents have complied with the direction and the petitioner is not eligible for the post.

Summary

Petitioner Kailas Manohar Gaikwad filed a petition seeking a direction that his candidature be considered for the post of Surveyor Grade‑II under Rule 29(a) of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board Classification and Recruitment Regulations, 1961. The respondents filed an affidavit‑in‑reply stating that his candidature had been examined and he was found ineligible for the post, and that they had complied with the direction. The Court examined the submissions and found no merit in the petition as the respondents had already acted in accordance with the earlier direction. Consequently, the Court held that there was no further relief to be granted to the petitioner. The petition was therefore disposed of.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioner is eligible for appointment as Surveyor Grade‑II under Rule 29(a) of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board Classification and Recruitment Regulations, 1961.
