SHIVAJI KRISHNATH PATILversusSantosh Kumar Yadav

Disposal
Disposed Off

Holding

The Court held that the deposit of the compensation by NHAI complied with the order, and thus the contempt petition was dismissed.

Summary

The petitioner, Shivaji Krishnath Patil, filed a contempt petition alleging that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had not complied with a court order to deposit compensation. The High Court, after hearing submissions, noted that on 20 July 2026 it had directed NHAI to deposit the entire compensation within two weeks. NHAI subsequently deposited the amount in the Court as confirmed by the petitioner’s counsel. The Court held that the deposit satisfied the earlier order and therefore there was no contempt. Consequently, the contempt petition was disposed, with liberty granted to the petitioner to file an interim application for withdrawal of the deposited amount if desired.
