Summary

Shivam Singh, who is in judicial custody at Central Jail, filed a bail application before the High Court of Bombay at Goa. The applicant's counsel, Mr. Ryan Menezes, after hearing the court's reluctance to grant bail, sought permission to withdraw the bail application and to file a fresh one if the trial does not progress substantially within six months. The court, noting that five witnesses had already been examined, was not inclined to grant bail and therefore allowed the withdrawal. It directed the prosecution to submit a trial programme to the trial court within a week and urged the trial court to expedite the remaining proceedings. Consequently, the bail application was disposed of as withdrawn.
